ATC Error ? (Training server)

Good evening,

I am in full flight to Gran Canaria airport, I took off from Madrid Barajas and I wanted to take off from runway 36L, so I did the Taxi procedure (until then no ATC present.
Then, when ready to line up, ATC is there, telling me to “turn around” and go to the other end of the runway to take off from Runway 18R.

I don’t know why he told me this when in real time (on FlightRadar24) even the planes were taking off from the 36L. And it seems to me that we can’t take off from the 18R.

I need some lighting, please.

Hi, everyone can control at Training, including the people who are new to the ATC, so mistakes can happen.

This happens more often because the ATC controllers on the TS are new and not trained. If you want good ATC service, you have to fly on the ES. The controllers are trained there and they also had to pass an exam.

Yup. You just have to bear with that until you reach the Expert Server. Good Luck!

Hi there!

Sorry about your experience on TS many controllers are new and not experienced. However if you are unable to access expert server for some reason doesn’t mean you should have no fun.

Many TS controllers are trained ever in the TSATC team like @Jeodanie_Smith or training for IFATC. Attached below is an event run by some of us not on expert yet, please do come along we can promise a great time and some professional ATC! We all are learning.

I’ve read a lot of things on here about obeying ATC and I agree with that. However, I’ve had a final clearance “taken away” twice in the past two days, controller that just jumped into the role, training servers of course. It appears to me that some are jumping into the ATC role to mess with others. Today when I checked to see who the ATC tower person was he had alliance and CEO in his name. Can the runways in use be changed by the ATC? When you spend a lot of time invested in a flight this is extremely aggravating. This is my first month here and trying to make the decision if I want to stay. Love the game, the live server, and the countless hours that have been put into this. Coming from a huge alliance in another game I know what it takes to put all this together. Keep up the great work and I realize that maybe this is just a bad apple. Since it was the training server I should have made my landing both times, however I’m trying to respect the role.

Yes, they can. However, it should NOT be changed constantly. Only if tailwinds are > 10kts should the runways in use be changed.

ATC can indeed change runways in use, but it shouldn’t be done too often and when there’s a lot of traffic it requires a lot of skill and some spacing to do so, the second one usually requiring cooperation with approach controllers.
In terms of bad apples - give expert server a try. ATC there are subject to entry tests and constant moderation, which ensures a high level of service.
