I’ve encountered this scenario numerous times, and I’m hoping for a solution to fix this problem.
First off, I want to thank all of the air traffic controllers who provide us with warnings when they’re about to close down. It is a courtesy that I enjoy very much, and I’d like to thank each one of you for that (you know who you are).
However, some ATCs don’t provide us with that warning, and I’d continue flying and wait for instructions, only to realize that I’m not connected to any frequency because the controller left or lost connection. By the time I realize I either go off course (because ATC would’ve vectored be for a turn) or I go way off my flight plan, as I was following ATC instructions.
A solution that propose is having some type of notification or sound (in the upper bar, where we see ATC communications) whenever ATC closes and you are no longer connected to them. Sometimes I will hit the ATC button to continuously check if I’m connected, but sometimes I fail to catch a “lost connection” despite me checking.
What do you guys think?
