What does “I’ll call your base” and “Turn Base” means?

Sorry if it’s a noob question but I’m new to this thing.

"Extend downwind & Ill call your base" whats the difference?

I know what each one means but is there a situation when you would be told to extend downwind over “call your base”? I assume they are both ways of saying the same thing in regard to spacing?

This is a diagram of a traffic pattern:

“I’ll call your base” and “turn base” are both commands you may receive from ATC whilst you are flying on the downwind leg of the pattern. “I’ll call your base” means you should remain on the downwind leg until you receive the “turn base” command, at which point you turn onto the base leg and then final.
