INDIRA GANDHI INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT
This airport is known as India’s busiest airport, New Delhi! IGI airport was named after the former prime minister of India Indira Gandhi. It got its name on 1986, in honour of her death.
Expect runways 27/28/29 to be in use, as the winds are more appropriate for those wind directions.
Did you know that runway 11/29 has one of the longest displaced thresholds in the world. Due to this, arriving aircraft has to use lots of brakes to stop safely on the runway.
In 2018, IGI airport overtook John F Kennedy Airport as the world’s most 20 busiest airports in the world! That’s right guys, Delhi is actually busier thank JFK!
CHHATRAPATI SHIVAJI MAHARAJ INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT
Here we go, the other massive hub of India, Mumbai! Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj is India’s number 2 busiest airport, behind Delhi, and the name comes from the might Indian king Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. In 2018, it got renamed from Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport.
CSMIA Airport is using single runways only, despite there being 2 runways. Runway 27 will be used mostly and 14/32 only in rare circumstances.
In 2018, CSMIA became the world’s busiest single runway airport after surpassing Gatwick with a whopping 1,033 flights within 24 hours, compared to Gatwick which has around over 800.
Vistara airlines, a fairly new Indian carrier, has an exclusive part of T2 to themselves. If you are flying Vistara, expect speedy security and an area that isn’t too crowded.
Mumbai T2 is very beautiful! If you are departing, you can expect to see some fine Indian artwork! Also, the facilities there are very clean!
TRIBHUVAN INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT
Tribhuvan International Airport is Nepal’s only international airport. It is known for its stunning departures and approach, as it is situated in between the Himalayas.
The singular runway at Kathmandu gets very crowded as lots of airlines fly there due to tourism. Currently, you can expect a delay of 1 hour+ and it will most likely be for traffic reasons.
Kathmandu Airport has some stunning scenery after when you depart it, be sure to take some stunning screenshots guys!
The airport has flights to some of the most dangerous airports in the world, this includes Lukla, Simikot, Talcha, and probably more than that.
BANDARANAIKE INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT
Ah, the beautiful island of Sri Lanka! Colombo Airport is the main airport in Sri Lanka, and despite the small size, it is serving airports like London and Melbourne. Recently it has been working on a new terminal and it will finish constructing soon!
There will be 2 new runways coming soon 2 the airports presumably due to traffic reasons.
Colombo Airport is very close to some tourist attractions in Sri Lanka, like Galle. You will not need a long taxi ride if you plan on going directly to the attractions! :)
