ATC Bug: Audio Drops

Device: iPad Air 5
Operating system: iPad OS 17.0 Beta 4

When I’m on ATC Ground and I switch to ATC Tower, I lose audio. Sometimes it’s after my first contact to tower. Sometimes it’s instant. System status is 4 green. Please feel free to contact me directly for a recording.

Mike

Hi,

Do you lose ATC audio or all audio (such as engine noise) in these situations?

Patrick

Hi Patrick,

I just lose ATC audio. The ATC summary (bottom left) and ATC notifications (top center) work as intended. SFX works as intended as well. This started after I installed the iPadOS 17 beta 4.

Hi,

The general first port-of-call for ATC audio issues is to reset the voice settings:

Settings > Default Voice > [Voice, eg. Daniel en-GB] > Re-select your desired voice profile.

This usually fixes the problem I believe you’re having, where system notifications (eg. phone calls or app banners) plays with the ATC audio.

I hope this works.

Hello, here is an easy fix!

Firstly, go to your settings, then scroll to the ATC Voice section. Then, click on the voice you are currently using. You should be able to hear ATC after that. Hope that helps!

I’ve tried that with both normal voice and default voice selections already to no avail. Neither one will return audio. :(

Tried that already. Didn’t work. Here is the video:

First, I clicked on the “normal voice” Karen. Next, I clicked on the “default voice” Karen.

Ready. What you want to do is swipe down so you get that little screen where you can turn your wifi off and bluetooth and stuff. and then swipe back up so your back in infinite flight, press resume in infinite flight then it should work.

That’s not working either. Check the video. I had to do that to turn on the screen recording.

Is your ATC volume all the way up?

I’m going to uninstall and reinstall the app and try again later. Thank you for all of your help.

Yep. I uninstalled, restarted, and reinstalled. That seems to have solved my problem. Thank you everyone for helping me troubleshoot. That’s why I love this community.
