Hello, everyone. I’m an ifatc specialist. Today, I want to discuss some issues with you.
As we all know, the air traffic of hub airport is very large. Controllers often need to pay attention to the ground while paying attention to air traffic. While receiving huge air traffic, we often need to clear the take-off of the plane at the right time. Especially in some airports with single runway operation. Often when there is a suitable interval, we will let the waiting plane line up and wait after the landing plane passes by. At this time, the landing plane need exit expite so that the plane on the ground can take off. At the same time, continue to let the plane in the air land. But some pilots are slow to exit the runway. Although this is not a violation, it has caused some trouble for the controllers.
Here, I hope all pilots can speed up the speed of exiting the runway, so as to make the airport more efficient.
That’s all
thank you
Why are you lined up on a runway with another aircraft on final on the other side…
If the interval is enough, the ground plane can take off, right?
You shouldn’t take off, let alone be on the runway with another plane is inbound from the other end
You should be aware as a specialist that 0 aircraft should be on a runway when another one in landing within 3 nm.
Cases of 2 aircraft on a runway at the same time is with two departing aircraft, with 1 taking off and the other one lining up.
Or an aircraft landing having passed the threshold and a departing aircraft lining up behind it. The latter must only take off after the arriving traffic has vacated the runway.
I might have forgotten some cases but the one you’re describing doesn’t apply.
It is also generally a terrible idea to use 2 different runway ends for arrivals and departures…
Probably should retake your photo without a major incursion about to happen
I would like to apologize to my past self for viewing that photo.
If an aircraft on final is getting close to the runway and the previous aircraft that landed doesn’t have a reasonable separation to allow departure, LUAW would not be the best option, no? Plus, there is expedite exit you can use, no?
Ok,guys. After reading everyone’s reply, I want to talk about what I want to express.I mean, when all the intervals are sufficient, the LUAW plane can’t take off because the plane in front exit the runway too late, thus affecting the landing plane.🤓
Please, explain that photo you attached to me 🫠
Can’t see the original photo that is apparently discussed in this thread, and it seems like there is a lot of confusion here. I agree with you that it seems like the situation in that video is what @lingxi520 wanted to discuss (in general, not a particular scenario).

Thanks! That’s really useful!
I suppose @lingxi520 just wanted to give anyone who seen this topic a reminder: Always exit the runway as quick as possible when there’s busy traffic :)
Still doesn’t explain why they where using both ends of the runway for traffic ops 🗿
agreed - no need to be idling down at 20 knots :)
This is the behavior of other people. The controller at that time was not me. I was the plane on the final. I certainly could not explain why the runway was used in both directions.
If a plane doesn’t exit the runway when it’s busy and I give them a warning and they do not exit there is a report for failure to exit the runway. Only used it once honestly at OMDB when a plane was told to exit and coasted to the end of the runway.
