At Least We Still Have Specials | Munich, February 20 & 23, 2021

Hey there!

After an amazing weekend with quite a lot of movements almost two weeks ago, the meantime has been rather quiet in Munich so here’s another quick topic covering two short trips with less spectacular light but with interesting specials.
Besides a return of a plane I showed you in early January, we also got a classic special livery from Dubai, with Emirates once again bringing their orange EXPO 777 to Munich

After a one month stay in Frankfurt Hahn, K5 brought back its new A350ACJ for additional parking back at K5’s Munich base.

A slightly more interesting livery arrived a bit later with LuxAir’s Sumo Artwork livery inbound from Luxembourg.

Despite the metal birds, also a very tiny bird operated at the airport during our lunch break.

Four days later, this Tuesday, two additional specials were announced. Before these special movements, K5 operated another charter flight with D-AKAY’s little brother departing on a charter flight.

Accompanied by K5’s private jet fleet in the background, Germany’s Air Force 1 arrived on a training flight from Cologne.

Soon to be retired and to be replaced by the new A350, the good old A340 left again for Bremen.

Another unusual visitor (at least in daylight) could be seen a few minutes later departing to Sofia on a charter flight - DHL’s A300

Another cargo flight departed with a delay of more than 24 hours. But not only its departure was late, even takeoff itself happened way later than we had anticipated when National’s 747 rotated just a few hundred feet before the end of the runway on the way home to Chicago Rockford.

The trip came to a close with an old classic of the German army, the Bell UH-1D, passing by on a mission.

Thanks for visiting this topic! I hope you liked it! See you for the next topic, whenever it might be ;)

Canon EF-S 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS (for the 1% of the cases where I needed a wide angle lens, replaced by the 24-105 now)

What’s settings for that bird?

@Moritz I spotter the A340 in Bremen, sadly it made a LAP and had been going around very very early. But thanks to the information, some Spotters from Munich called ahead and told us Spotters In Bremen that 16+01 will visit us!

Oh I actually did, one recently got a new owner so it was a hot photo on JP 😍

Oh, the Classic GAF „low“ approach haha

We were already scared it would do the same here but luckily we got the contact of one of the crew members who told us they were actually going to land

Some really cool pictures as always! I must admit the all-white livery suits the A350 really well, but a B747 is always a contender for my favourite picture as well. Nice to see so many other cool specials as well, thanks for sharing!

argh so lucky… We had been scared when the GAF A350 had his first “Low Low” Approach in EDDW that we might never see the A340 again up here. The A350 had been asking for a low LAP, one of our spotters got the perfect picture that day.

But that day the A340 had been only asking for a LAP and when it got hit by a wind guest they started to go around earlier… But i once before got the 16+01, so i am glad that i had been a spotter in the time of the A340

Bad News: at some point in the future they will probably add some more color to the 350 👀
