This is my tracking thread for airports I’m working on, and where I’ll post WIP pictures and progress updates (if I somehow remember to do that). Feel free to comment and leave any feedback as you see fit.
Currently, most of the planned airports for the near-future are regionals in Vietnam yet to be converted to 3D, and whatever else comes to mind.
Small regional airport serving Ca Mau city and the southern-most province of the mainland. Initially capable of serving only turboprops up to the ATR 72, it receive a retrofit in 2022 for limited handling of E170 and E190 jets. The airport is currently closed until Nov 2026 pending major expansion to increase its capacity to handle all Code C aircraft.
Not the best 3D work tbh, I might end up reworking the terminal at a later date, but for now, it passes OR.
Regional serving Dong Hoi city specifically and Quang Tri province in general. First rebuilt to handle the influx of tourism sprouting from the classification of Phong Nha-Kẻ Bàng Natl Park as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, the airport, like VVCM, is undergoing an expansion project to increase capacity, as the current terminal is operating at ~150% its original designed capacity.
Some parts of the expansion project are already present here, the enlarged parking apron being the most obvious. This apron layout has actually been revised since Sep 2025 to accommodate the under-construction Terminal 2. The new apron layout has already been built here, as its quite easy to measure out, but it’s left deactivated and will probably be removed if OR comes before the updated satellite imagery.
