South Korea’s other national airline, Asiana Airlines, was the country’s first alternative to then then-troubled Korean Air, and rapidly expanded across the Pacific and westward to Europe in the 1990s and 2000s. The United States, in particular, has been a key market for the airline, which serves Honolulu, San Francisco, Los Angeles, New York City, and Seattle. Unfortunately, this 5-star airline’s days are numbered, as the merger with its old rival, Korean Air, has been approved, and OZ will be integrated with KE in the next few years. Thus, flying Asiana is rapidly becoming an “enjoy it while you can” experience, one that we’re taking advantage of today.
