Happy new year everyone!
It might not be surprising to you that it didn’t take long until I’m back at the airport for spotting so here I‘m back with a little birthday trip to the airport (you might call this a tad nerdy I guess). Initially, Bahrain’s second royal 747 and a German Bombardier Global 6000 carrying president of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, were forecasted but ended up being either rescheduled or diverted to Salzburg.
When I got up it actually looked like a very bad idea to go spotting since the METAR showed a visibility of 500m in the morning with lots of fog, but as the first plane of the day shows, it cleared up by the time I arrived.
After spotting a few landings I went to spot several departures, such as Singapore‘s A350…
…Air China‘s 777 bound for Beijing…
…and another special guest of the day: Air China‘s A350 in 99% Star Alliance and 1% Air China colors on the way back to Shanghai.
Other than that there was, obviously, quite some Lufthansa traffic with several A321s departing for European destinations.
Not quite as „5 Star“ as Lufthansa is this disguised Ryanair flight. Laudamotion operates several flights a week to destinations such as Mallorca.
Surprisingly, a Lufthansa A340 showed up on the southern taxiways around noon that turned out to be bound to Mumbai replacing the usual A350. Luckily it’s not noticeable that I messed up my camera setting for this and some other pics because I really love the climbout of this amazing bird in front of Munich‘s tower.
Once the midday heavy departure time had ended we repositioned to the final approach where I was already expecting a business jet with quite a simple registration, M-HHHH, an A318 ACJ
After some pics at the southern runway, a quick race to the northern runway got me some pics of another Lufthansa heavy inbound from Osaka.
But nevertheless, another quick trip by car back to the southern runway was necessary to catch Saudia‘s A320 in Skyteam livery.
Since all good things come in threes, yet another drive was necessary to get back to the northern runway for Lufthansa‘s retro livery which is finally based at Munich now after Frankfurt being its home for ages before.
I hope you liked these pics even though they are missing extremely rare planes but I’m sure 2020 will bring some amazing specials later anyway 😉
