Around the World in…41 hours.
Hey guys, I recently did a flight around the world in the trusty VC-25. The entire flight took around 41 hours, give or take and over 18000nm was covered in one go, without even landing. Jules Verne gotta be cussing from up above I had a lot of help, thanks to @USCG_Virtual. Flying with me were @ZaneDavis @SSGTRocky and LCDR Oskapew. The flight began at Edwards Airforce Base (KEDW) and a bearing of 278 degrees was maintained till back at Edwards AFB. Expert server obviously
Hope you guys enjoy these pictures. :D
Taking of Lake Bed runway 5L at KEDW, fully fuelled up and ready for an epic flight!
Right over the Japanese coast, thirsty for fuel. Over 163,000 lbs of fuel were transferred in a record time of 20 minutes with @SSGTRocky. After refueling the KC10 tanker remained in formation for the next 12 hours.
Entering the Himalayas from the Chinese side. Beautiful scenery over Tibet.
Scenery is pretty awesome!
Flying right next to peaks reaching 25,00ft. The Himalayas are truly a marvel.
Here we are over the Alps. They surely do give the Himalayas a tough competition.
Finally, on short final for runway 22L back at Edwards AFB.
One of the best flights I have ever had. 41 hours and 35 minutes in the air. 600,000 lbs of fuel burned and the most importantly, 480,000 lbs of fuel refueled in air.
That’s gotta be some record right? ;)
