Hello community, I am tired of using the approach mode (under 200 kts and under glidescope), and feel that my plane makes sudden movements. Do you use any tip to avoid it like LNAV, or any specific tip with the start of the final approach and the alignment to the runway?
Try activating APPR with a 45Âş angle with the localizer and maintaining a level flight under the glideslope. It should intercept it smoothly like this.
This is a bit too sharp - the ideal angle is 30° - its what IFATC are trained to give for intercepts.
@Alvaro_Gimeno you can avoid using APPR mode entirely - either by setting LNAV to NAV 1 and flying the glideslope yourself, or just hand-flying the approach completely.
You can always turn down the sensitivity in Infinite Flight’s control settings if you feel like its too sensitive - go into those settings, then click on “Config” in the bottom right.
This worked thank you. Now my plane aligns perfect and smooth with the runway, but now I have a problem on the glidescope. When I align under the glidescope and with 0 fpm, after some seconds, when it intercepts the glidescope, it starts to climb for a few seconds until reach 500 ftm and then starts making a perfect descent. Any solution?
Yeah this is an issue with APPR mode. The autopilot system in general could do with a rework.
So I am making it perfect? And this is a problem everybody has on the game? Btw, although having this problem, do you still use the approach mode or do you use an alternative way to do the approach?
Yes this is a problem with the ap i hope they fix soon
Sounds like you are doing the best you can with it. I find most aircraft are able to catch up to the glide-slope pretty easily.
I tend to disengage APPR around 1000ft above the airport.
I personally handfly after reaching the glideslope I disconnect everything
I am thinking to make the alignment with the runway which the approach mode and when I am about to intercept glidescope, do it playing with the vertical speed button of the AP, would it work?
most of new aircraft have the glidescope issue fixed?
It’s a bit better in the newer aircraft but not flawless - its an issue with the general autopilot system
I would recommend trying manually with the heading set to the magnetic heading of the runway and this can be found on London Heathrow Airport | EGLL | Pilot info
For glidescope you will have to make adjustments to trim so it doesn’t wobble and at probably 100-200ft above the altitude for the final approach and disengage vnav and lower the vs and finally activate the APPR once you’re aligned with the heading.
Yeah, as others have said, the APPR mode is a little off, especially when engaging it. If anything I just hand fly the ILS approach, or do visual. I used to use APPR all the time, but I haven’t touched it in months!
Neither me and most of the time I get it right and I also use visual landing aid to align with the runway. I’m on bluestacks so the aircraft is stable when disconnecting ap not appr which dosen’t work on bluestacks since the max update.
