I am back at simming after a busy exam filled school month. I wanted to try live streaming for once and chose a route I always wanted to try someday, Panama City to Toncontin.
I am not posting the full live stream because I did show some personal information (there was only 1 viewer and I don’t think he even noticed).
Instead, I am coming back with my favorite series, approach and landing with a smooth time lapse in 4K. I added sound from an actual 737-700 approach.
I didn’t think I’d make it at first try, in all honesty the alternate route was already in my FPL. I forced a bit on the landing but overall it was a nice experience, would recommend.
i tried landing it following rnav 02 but it ordered me to turn early, i’ll attempt to try the approach but manually approach the plane in by using the mountains as a guide then making that bank turn for toncontin
Unfortunately replay doesn’t show but I deactivated AP early on because the curve wasn’t curvy enough for me. And I couldn’t see the runway until I got really close.
Same thing, I will be practicing that Tegucigalpa approach after I have landed so that by 7:15 AM, I will start my final flight on American Airlines Flight 961 KMIA-MHTG on the Airbus A320
Thank you so much for sharing this! I really appreciate that people share more about this fantastic approach. I was doing this earlier and it was a really challenging approach, hopefully more people try it!
It’s not so busy right now and on approach zero winds (whether that’s a blessing or not for some of you) but I have no doubt it will get much busier in the next few hours.
Saw you @Kaven practicing earlier
hey there i landed at toncontin, i was a little high so i smacked the plane down but was perfect on approach i ended up bouncing in the air but still got down safely. i could of touched down later but i was worried i wouldn’t stop
Well congratulations, I am enroute to Toncontin right now. I should be there between 10:45 AM and 11:00 AM. I hope I can nail that RWY 2 Toncontin approach because if I fail, I will go around and try that approach again. I have practiced that Toncontin approach yesterday and this morning and I was no pissed off when @tjb0709 had already left cuz it was almost 8:00 AM and @tjb0709 and I were supposed to leave at 7:30 AM for our flight to Toncontin. Maybe for my flight to St. Maarten I will fly back to Miami as a connecting stop with the American B757-200 and then proceed to St. Maarten with the B737-800
good luck with that, i suggest with toncontin is that once you hit 7000 msl disengage autopilot and manually fly the plane in. stick close to the mountains and slowly turn b4 banking the plane in. if i was lower i probably would never had the plane bounce back up in the air.
