APPR issue

hello everyone I’ve encounter an issue with the APPR and I need help today was about landing at lfpg airport 27r runway

I hit APPR the green diamond shows and then after I couple seconds it disappears this happened multiple times !!! This is my first time since I started playing infinite flight experiencing this

I assume it’s a bug and is your glideslope captured? Then everything should be alright.

Not at all about to be captured and the green diamond disappear

What alt you were? Have you followed the alt given in the approach plate which is 5000ft to be captured?

Ohh I must be at that 5000 before I can capture it ? Well once I’m on the localizer I hit APPR am I doing something wrong ?

Yes but you need to be below the glide slope when you engage APPR for it to then capture properly (the diamond needs to be above the middle of the “bar” when you engage it).

Next time this happens it would be useful if you could record it, upload it somewhere (YouTube, Vimeo, etc…) and then share the link here so we can get a visual reference.

All you need to do is be at 5100ft before the said waypoint and activate the APPR it works like a charm.

Well the APPR was engaged but the diamond bar came and after some few minutes disappeared again! Well I’m doing another flight to Helsinki hope it works

Remember it’s always best to be 200-300ft above the alt given for the approach and it will intercept pretty smoothly. All my recent flights have been successfull with ils approach. Similarly you set the final approach speed when around 1500ft for a smooth descent.

One final question when rotating how many degree do I pitch for like how many degreee do I maintain

It depends on the aircraft and whatever pitch is needed to maintain your initial climb speed (usually V2 speed plus 10-20kts) at the thrust setting chosen.

I don’t understand because I tend to lift of the ground to quick

Am I misunderstanding something here? I don’t have the approach plate for 27R at LFPG, but I did just try the 27R ILS. If I’m level at 5000MSL just as I enter near the start of the cone, the GS is below me. So I don’t see how this advice is going to help the OP intercept the GS from below according to the standard recommendation?:

(to be below the GS if at 5000MSL, you’d have to be well before the cone)

Did the ils approach work for you at lfpg? And at that runway ?

Yes, and I did approach at 5000MSL level altitude, but once I confirmed that you will be above the GS at that altitude at the fat end of the cone, I turned around and reapproached from far enough outside the cone for the GS to be above me at 5000MSL (diamond above you).

It captured well and descended keeping the diamond close enough to centered (vertically), therefore tracking well downwards.

The tutorial, if I remember correctly, recommends approaching level at 3000AGL, and far enough out to be level below the GS at intercept.

(LFPG is at 392 feet altitude, so 5000 MSL is roughly height above ground: if 3000AGL is designed to have you intercept within the cone, then LFPG 5000 MSL is well outside of that intention.)

A question to OP, when you engaged (or press APPR) does the LOC / ALT button flash orange or green? And is the diamond bar below or above the center-line on the altimeter?

What’s your ias at 5000ft? I actually intercepted the ils at eddf 25l at 5300ft 77W with 190 ias just before the approach waypoint. I can’t confirm the ils for lfpg but I’ll probably give it a try today.

It’s not your IAS that matters for a successful glideslope capture, it’s your distance from the runway.

I can share a screenshot of me capturing the ils at 5000ft approximately around 15nm away from the airport

Yes, that’s normal, but your IAS has nothing to do with it.
