If you’re new to our autoland feature or are having a hard time getting it just right, this tutorial is for you! The APPR mode is found on many aircraft in the Infinite Flight fleet. Autoland will automatically fly an ILS, land the aircraft, and even apply brakes on the runway. While it does sound simple, there are a few key steps to ensure a smooth and successful approach!
Note: This APPR tutorial replaces the previous 2019 tutorial following improvements to the Autoland and User Interface.
Tips:
- Autopilot, to include V/S, must be engaged prior to activating the APPR mode.
- Airspeed must be at or below 200 KIAS.
- Longer finals will result in a more stable approach (15-20 mile final).
- Slow airspeed and rapid aircraft configuration (speed reduction, multiple flap inputs, quick trimming, etc) may result in upsetting the aircraft, bobbing of the nose, and an unstable approach.
