Appeals September 2024 Data

The September 2024 Appeals Data highlights the challenges that arose due to technical issues introduced by the 24.3 Update. This update led to a significant rise in violation appeals, as both pilots and Infinite Flight Air Traffic Controllers (IFATC) faced miscommunication and operational difficulties. Despite these challenges, the appeals team remained committed to thoroughly reviewing each case to ensure fairness.

We extend a special thanks to the Infinite Flight developers for their swift response with Hotfix 24.3.5, which addressed many of the technical issues. Their efforts have helped mitigate disruptions and improve operational stability moving forward.

This Data provides key insights into the trends observed during this period, with the goal of improving communication, adherence to procedures, and fostering safer skies for all. We look forward to continued collaboration between pilots and ATC to reduce violations and enhance flight operations.

All data below reflects only cases where users reached out to the Appeals Team, Moderators, or Staff. Violations issued without subsequent appeal requests are not included. Pilot and controller names have been redacted, and the data is anonymized for educational purposes only.
Pilots & Controllers alike have had their names redacted from this data. The following data is in random order and does not indicate date of issuance. To be used for educational purposes only.

Key Highlights for September 2024
  • Total Appeals Submitted: 171
  • Approved Appeals: 115 ☺️
  • Rejected Appeals: 56 :)

The spike in appeals was attributed to ATC communication failures and server glitches resulting from the 24.3 Update. Each appeal was carefully reviewed, taking these technical factors into consideration.

Can you elaborate this? 👀

In my opinion, Staff and Moderators have the flexibility to review and possibly remove violations, even if a pilot was initially at fault. This allows us to take a closer look at each situation, considering things like the number and timing of violations, the seriousness of the issue, and any extra details from the pilot’s replay. This way, we ensure fairness and keep our standards high while supporting everyone in the community.

luckily i just started flying in solo again

This simply means that staff and moderators (not only the Appeals team) have the ability to remove violations on a case by case basis.
