This is the 3rd time this has happened, and its been every time I have tried to fly a long haul. I have never been able to complete long haul flights as such. I’m not running a slow device either, its a 2-month-old Razer phone, and i have a decent internet connection and proper device cooling. Why?
Are further app optimisations coming in the future?
So it isn’t just me! Unlike you, I believe my case is hardware related, however the app is very sensitive, crashing if I change the volume in my device, and then freezing up on final for absolutely no reason…
I didnt even do anything to make my app crash. I think I breathed wrong and when i looked back at my phone, nothing was moving. I died a little bit inside.
Nah not happening for me, about to complete a 20 hour flight and if I crash it will be a first. I only have crashed mid-flight when I selected tower view when over the Pacific
That’s really weird since the update came out I had zero crashes and I always fly long haul 12hrs plus maybe my device is a god? It does not overheat it’s a IPhone 7s Plus.
Guys, before suggesting the most basic things that would probably be correct on some older devices;
The Razer phone is a smartphone purely designed for gaming.
I’d say this is probably just a optimization issue.
That’s the downside with Android. Loads of hardware combinations and software tweaks in the OS depending on manufacturer.
Some work better with Infinite Flight, some worse.
I close all apps prior to launching IF. Then the Razer phone activates the game booster which turns up the clock speed of the CPU. I have it customised to run at maximum speed, 2.36 Ghz…
As I see, you are using the game booster for a LONG haul. Using the CPU at its highest settings for such a long time is not good. I know, the Razer Phone has got one of the best cooling systems for mobile devices, but it is still a phone. The cooler is small and the Snapdragon 835 is a very good CPU. Try playing without the game-booster or change its settings for Infinite Flight. A friend of mine has got the Razer Phone and he can play it smoothly without problems.
If that doesn’t work, factory-reset your device. But I think that the problem is using the CPU at its max for such a long time. Even desktop-PCs have got that problem sometimes.
I’ve had same thing happen to me about 3 different times. I would notice lag on descent then at around 1000AGL phone completely freezes or exits app on it’s own. Has mostly happened on LHs but I did have it happen once on about a 5h flight. For me, I’m pretty sure it’s a server connection issue. If I notice any kind of lag or stuttering early in the flight, it’s best to exit out and clear your RAM, then load back in. Device: LG Fiesta 2, Android.
I don’t think that it is a server connection issue. Your device has a Quad-core CPU with 1.4GHz which isn’t very good. Also, it has 2GB of RAM and 16GB of storage and only 10GBs are usable.So I think, in your case, it is a device issue.
If that was the case it would that every flight. But I hear where your coming from. It’s a relatively cheap phone I know lol. But 90% of the time I have no issues, and that’s with running IF, IF PAX, and IF-A at the same time. RAM used during is usually at 75% or less usage and still have plenty of storage. So it has to be an issue elsewhere I would think since it’s only an occasional thing that happens. Sometimes you just get a slow connection to the server or it gets a tad behind on data transfer and can’t catch up because like I said it only happens very rarely. Btw, I see you quite a bit :) just not much for spotting unless I’m close. Also it has seemed like IF PAX is a possible culprit for the lag. Maybe Android or something, sometimes I don’t run IF pax and it seems to run a bit smoother.
