"AP+" and usefulness

Hello,

So I was doing some reading and have seen random older posts about this thing called “AP+”. I am not exactly sure how it differs from “AP”, but what I wondered about was if a person could use it from start to finish on a flight route. I play in Aerofly as well, and it has the ability to use AP from take-off to landing. So, in IF, would the flight time and NMs (I’m actually using abbreviations for nautical miles…I’ve been infected :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes: ), count toward ranking and flight requirements? Or does it have to be all manual - like manually flying for x hours and so forth? Are there other things I should know about “AP+”? Thanks for the feedback.

Basically, AP+ allows you to save your flight and come back later to finish it.

Once you reach the requirements (written in the bottom left of the pause menu) you can safely close the app and the flight will be saved.

AP is just a regular autopilot, while AP+ allows you to use your device to do something else for example.

Ah, so you could take a 14hr flight and break it up into multiple days or something if needed, I guess. Sounds cool.

Absolutely. I believe the limit is 48hrs during which your flight will be saved.

It’s important to note that your flight will continue in the background until it reaches 30 minutes ETE. That way you can take off, get to cruise, put your flight into AP+ and use your device for something else, then come back to complete the arrival and landing.

That’s where I wasn’t sure what impact or positive outcome would be had from using it. Rather than holding on to the ipad/phone for 13 hours while flying to a destination.

Another point worth mentioning: the 48 hour countdown resets over time. So once you’ve reached cruising altitude and put it in AP+ and leave the flight, the 48 hour countdown starts. Then if you login to the flight 2 hours later, the 48 hour countdown resets from that point. So theoretically you could do multiple iterations of log off / log on and still be fine!

Wow. Thats a little work around that I did not think would be an option. Thanks for the additional info.
