Question to all my photographers, has anyone used/tried Film? I know some of our old dudes on the forum (you know who you are) have used it in the pre-DSLR era. I’m looking at buying a pre 1980s camera from a store near me ad want advice

I once tried planespotting on a Bencini comet II from 1953, but I didn’t develop it yet. However, I am looking for either a canon AE-1 to buy or a Hasselblad 500 C/M to rent.
You will have alot of trail and error since you need more precise light input and will need to use manuals focus. I would recommend one with a light meter, that makes things way easier. Also, try to invest in Kodak Ektar 100, one of the most realistic films out there.
What helped me choose what film camera I want was that I looked for photos on airliners.net before 2003 and chooses the photo that looked the best. The photo usually contains info of the camera and film. However some film cameras like the Nikon F5 would be too hard for beginners so I would recommend the canon AE-1 since it has good quality and is perfect for starters.
I use an old film camera. The best way to get good photos is to download the app “Lghtmtr” which is where you can take a picture on your phone and it gives you the settings you’ll need for shooting with the camera.
