Another "world's most spectacular airport landings" list

I just checked out this latest type of list to appear in a general news source website: “most spectacular” airport landings (CNN).

In terms of IF, in a blind test, I think I would have only answered two “correctly:” Innsbruck and Queenstown.

Though after seeing the list I don’t disagree with some of the others.

A few of these I’ve never been to in IF.

Thoughts?

15 of the world’s “most spectacular” airport landings
1 Rio de Janeiro (SDU)
2 Malé (VIA)
3 Venice (VCE)
4 Cape Town (CPT)
5 San Francisco (SFO)
6 Genoa (GOA)
7 London Heathrow (LHR)
8 Kigali (KGL)
9 Nice (NCE)
10 São Paulo (GRU)
11 Innsbruck (INN)
12 Queenstown (ZQN)
13 Hong Kong (HKG)
14 Santiago de Chile (SCL)
15 Las Vegas (LAS)

some of these need 3D cities to be on here, such as london and vegas.

I definitely see your point, but the way I’ve looked at Las Vegas in IF, is that the desert mountain Lanscape is pretty spectacular all on its own (maybe like a supercharged Phoenix).

Pretty cool to see my home airport San Francisco there! Although much like the article mentioned there’s a big asterisk to that, you gotta be sitting on the left/port side of the plane and hopefully coming in via bdega3 arrival.

I do love flying the RKSTR3 Arrival into 19R IRL, especially at night, as you bank in you can see Nellis AFB, the strip, and now, the sphere. I remember the first time was with El Al and I was mesmerized.

London and Vegas are 3D

He was referring to having 3D scenery for the cities, not the airports themselves.

Guys please use the link above as this is a duplicate of that topic. There’s no need for this one as ones already made

@Prestoni It’s bringing up a particular mainsteam news source list to examine (in terms of using IF). The topic is different in terms of an altered perspective on the overlapping subject. The focus is assessing the list.

All the Airports in the BVI and USVI

That is one of my favorite cities and airports in the world. Had some of my best life experiences there!

Oh ok cool

Interesting.
I have only landed in five of those IRL (LFMN, LIPZ, VHHH, FACT and EGLL), the latter being frankly as unspectacular from the sky as it looks (looked then) from within the terminals… but I agree the others are nice, in the sim as well.

I found desertic places better looking in the sim like OBBI, OTHH, OMDB, etc…) and more in line with my real life memories, perhaps due to our definition limitations.

I was referring to the actual city, not the airport l

VIA CPT SFO LHR and GRU are nothing special in IF, we don’t have the level of scenery and building granularity to make them good.

I think there is something wrong with the approach navigation point of Hong Kong airport. Hong Kong Airport has launched a third runway, but the middle runway has been deactivated; however, the proximity navigation point of the third runway is not added to the map in the map of Infiniteflight, while the navigation point of the middle runway is still retained.

Definitely anywhere in Alaska or British Columbia specifically Ketchikan which ive been too several times IRL!

Hong Kong is quite far
I am trying to find excuses for myself to travel 14 hours in IF to land there

Having landed in most european airports IRL I can guarantee you that the list may be kind of accurate, however I don’t think that Venice or Nice deserve their rank before Innsbruck.

I personally wonder how Palermo, Funchal and Tenerife Sur aren’t featured, but I fully understand the limitation of the selection.

Coming to their version in IF, I believe that Venice, Nice, Genoa, Heathrow lose a lot because of the 2d cities, and for the water definition. For scenic approaches in IF I’d look for mountains and/or colorful scenery.
