AndrewWu's 2024 Spotting Year in Review

HELLO COMMUNITY

Welcome back to a classic tradition, where us forum spotters reflect on our past year with an end-of-year topic. I still find it crazy that I’m now going into my seventh year of spotting, but when you find something you love, you stick to it! While not as glamorous of a spotting year as my 2023, it was still super fun and I enjoyed it highly. This year, I did 34 different spotting sessions across 21 airports and one other location, with 12 of those being my first time at those airports.

Gear: Sony α7R IV & α7iii | Sony 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6 GM OSS & Tamron 28-75mm f/2.8 VXD G2 | Sony 1.4x TC | Manfrotto Element

What a year it’s been. While I didn’t have the string of insane trips after insane trips like last year, I’m very grateful for all the places I have been able to see this year. Got some cool things planned for the next year, excited to see where it takes me.

Also, for my fellow spotters: get your shots ready because I will be running another spotting competition this year with signups being released around the New Year. Good luck have fun!

NYC? Sure it’s not the easiest but you have good traffic and some decent spots. JFK Bayswater and T5, EWR Terminal C deck, etc

Yeah, we do. It’s just the driving is annoying, makes it harder for it to be a weekly thing. We do have great traffic though!

I really like Bayswater!

Hey, at least you aren’t from some farm upstate 😭 I can’t bother to make the 20 minute drive to my local airport bc it’s maximum 5 planes an hour

Beautiful photographs! :) An amazing year for spotting.

My favourite pic out of the list is probably the DHL 777F. 🤩🔥

Lol, that’s true. You are in Ithaca or something, right?

Anyway, back on topic!

Amazing shots Andrew! Did you take that MD-11 shot through the fence at Ontario? Also what do you think the distance was on that DHL shot?
