Judging from what I just saw and all the pictures I am 85% sure it was a mid air breakup.

According to Interfax news agency, it was a technical problem. Eyewitnesses reported that they saw an explosion while the aircraft was in the air. However, the black-box hasn’t been recovered yet.

Wikipedia (and others) says it was a posible mid air colission.

I just found this on a Russian website, the pilot had reported a technical malfunction on board the plane and asked for clearance for an emergency landing at the nearby Zhukovsky International Airport.

I feel so bad for the plane and all the people it’s a shame thief lives ended so fast

Unfortunately this one of two accidents that happened. A helicopter crashed in the Grand Canyon killing 3 people around the same time the Antonov plane crashed. Our prayers go to both accidents.

Guys, let’s not spam the tread. Let’s be real: most of you write “pray for flight number” just for the checkmark. Have you knew anything about people onboard before the crash? I don’t think so. But while I was reading the tread and writing this comment the same amount of people died in all parts of the world from natural reasons, or hunger for example. My point is, let’s not be hypocritical everyone.

Reports coming in that it could of been a mid air collison with a helicopter but sill unclear.

We get it I understand many people have died across the world today due to other reasons but this is a flight sim/Aviation forum and there has been a Aviation Accident so let’s not go off topic here.

A Saratov Airlines Antonov An-148 with the registration UP-NTB takes off from Moscow Domodedovo airport at 14:21, but 7 minutes later, at 14:28 it disappears from the radars. At 15:25 there are mostly 2 versions of what was on the plane. Some people think it was a regular commercial flight, the other think it was operating for Post of Russia, but at 15:37 Post of Russia says that the plane was not affiliated with them in any way, and at 15:40 the first 2 bodies were found on the site of crash.
Very interesting fact is that the parts of fuselage lie along the flight path, which can mean that plane started to break apart in the air or close to the ground. Also, if we would look at flight path of the plane, we would find something interesting. Plane gains altitude as usual, and reaches the altitude of about 6400ft at 375 knots, but then it suddenly drops to 5800ft with speed dropping to as low as 283 knots, then it again climbs to 6400ft, but then the plane goes down, and at altitude of 3250ft and speed of 332 knots it disappears from the radar. That could mean icing or some problems with controls
Near 16:20 versions of the plane colliding with Post of Russia’s helicopter appear in the news. Also, the first pictures and videos from the wreckage people pay attention to the letters with post of Russia symbols on it.
18:32 As lentach vk.com writes, one of their subscribers working at Domodedovo airport says that the plane was not de-iced. As he tells “captain of the crashed plane thinked for 15 minutes, should he be de-iced or not, but in the end said that he won’t de-ice to save some time.
21:00 RBK’s source says that the plane’s engines were functioning normally throughout the flight, plane was destroyed on the ground

This is really sad. A plane and helicopter crash around the same time. And this all happened only a few hours ago!
