Welcome back to Schiphol after a few days in the city! Today, we’ll be diving into the European LCC scene aboard Transavia! I checked in online the day before departure and dropped off my bag at one of the new automated drop-off stations I had not used before. In the US, it’s much more common to give your bag over to a real-live human being! As I made my way through the crowded security line and to the gate, I passed 737-800s and A321neos, all from Transavia. We arrived at the gate to see PH-HXN, a 7.3-year-old 737-8K2. She’s just come in from Magala and is getting ready for the quick hop over to Salzburg!
We’re seated in seat 21A today, just aft of the left wing. The seat is relatively comfortable, a standard slimline seat with minimal padding, a tray table that is nice and sturdy, and a decent-sized seatback pocket with the Buy-on-board menu and safety card. We’re now taxiing to runway 24, which is a very quick taxi from the gate.
With the classic CFM roar, we lift off. As we took the runway, we saw the KLM orange pride 777-300ER and a British Airways E190! Getting off the ground was like being on a rocket ship compared to the 787 we were on a few days earlier.
Climbing out over the beautiful Dutch countryside for a quick one-hour hop down to the edge of the Alps.
Now that we’re at cruise, the cabin crew has come around with drinks and snacks. I bought a Sprite and two Stroopwafels, which were both very, very good. I decided to check out the bathroom, and it was clean, but very small. Got the job done though!
Now, we’ve started our descent over the Bavarian countryside to the airport that houses the Red Bull Air Force!
My mistake, but on final approach, I forgot to get a shot! I remembered at the last second why I was doing this flight and was able to snap our touchdown, during which our flight crew did a very solid job. I’m quite happy with my experience on Transavia, no matter how stark the contrast is to my last flight.
Deplaned on the ramp with the plane blocking a view of the very cool Red Bull complex. Thanks for stopping by and see you next time!
