America's Shortest Flight

Minnesota Fun Fact

Despite being a landlocked state, Minnesota was the site of the invention of the first deep-sea submarine, Alvin. It was produced by General Mills (the food people, yep) and was used to located the wreck of the Titanic (source)

Disclaimer: this flight is operated on a 737-700 in real life, but since we don’t have the Alaska Airlines livery, I decided to use the -800 instead. Don’t arrest me, realism police.

Watch the full flight on my YouTube channel!

Gorgeous livery with a gorgeous backdrop

Navigating some terrain on our initial climbout

This livery fits perfectly with the mountains

Cruising at 4,900 feet. That’s less than two Burj Khalifas above the ground.

Already time to land in Petersburg

The runway is over there, nestled in a valley on the water’s edge

Pretty smooth landing

Quick break here on the ground before continuing our journey North on the Alaska Milk Run

haha imagine, couldn’t be me

Anyway, nice trip we really need the Alaska B737-700 in the game for these routes. That way the realism police can’t come after us

Whew, I’m safe.

Dang it.

Couldn’t be me.

Also, Minnesota has more than triple the shoreline of Florida and more shoreline than Florida, Hawaii, and California combined. Sure, it’s not oceanic, but that counts for a lot. Interestingly, even though Minnesota is definitely Midwest, we’re only separated from ocean by a few hundred miles, since Hudson Bay is just across Ontario.

We really do. It’s exhausting always watching behind our backs to see if they’re on our tail.

I’d say this is a lot more realistic than the folks flying BA A380’s from KLAX-KSFO. Nice post!
