A Year in Review: 2020
Despite the restrictive nature of 2020 due to the Coronavirus pandemic, American Virtual was able to thrive for one reason: our pilots and community! Throughout the year, we launched a new website, solidified prior-standing and created new partnerships, edited and maintained thousands of routes, introduced reworked aircraft into our fleet, hosted IFC events, sponsored others, held many internal events, and much more that contributed to a successful year for AAVA.
AAVA Partnerships Throughout 2020
In 2020, American Virtual created partnerships with Iberia Virtual, Finnair Virtual, Japan Airlines Virtual, Qatar Virtual, and GOL/Varig Virtual. These new codeshares allowed our pilots to operate 12 new aircraft, in addition to dozens of new airports not served my American nor previously-existing codeshares. Thus, bringing our total codeshare partners to 9 airlines!
Routes Database
Our staff team works extremely hard in regards to maintaining our routes database and keeping track of real-world flights, which includes seasonal routes and cargo routes. Furthermore, in a project during the month of August, over 10,000 flight numbers were updated during a 3 week-long project. Consequently, expanding our database to a handful of new airports, as well as hundreds of new routes. In addition to the large database update, American Virtual was also fortunate to have 4 of our fleet reworked in 2020: the Boeing 737-800, Boeing 757-200, the Boeing B777-200ER variant, and -300ER variant; these aircraft have been crucial for our day-to-day operations and are fan favorites of many of our pilots. All in all, we’re extremely excited to add the new routes that AA has to offer us this year and any aircraft reworks that may arise!
Events
Throughout 2020, American Virtual hosted a multitude of events: internal events, IFC partnerships, partnered VA events, and hosted IFC events. In addition to hosting our very own Chicago Fly-out and Two Year Anniversary Dallas Fly-out, we also sponsored a handful of IFC user’s events like: The Sunshine State Introduction. In addition to American Virtual’s internal events, we joined in on community events, such as the Core-6 series, and partnered with ASVA, BAVA, and DLVA for multiple group flights, fly-outs, and RVSM events! We are always trying to improve and better our events, thus keep your eyes peeled for the things to come this year!
New Website
After countless hours of hard work and dedication, American Virtual rolled out a brand new website, a one-of-a-kind masterpiece created from scratch by a former staff member, @ShadowOutlaw. Our new website boasted a new modern and sleek design, with an easy-to-follow layout, allowing our pilots, as well as curious onlookers, to easily navigate through the pages, in order to get a glimpse of the greatness that AAVA holds.
Remarks
In closing, 2020 was a challenging year for all of us, however, we got through it because of our amazing community! Without our pilots and community, we wouldn’t have been able to make it through 2020 as well as we did. Thank you to our wonderful pilots and community!
