American Increases Miami to Tel Aviv Service

Source

American Airlines has been flying 3x weekly from Miami to Tel Aviv. Their original main goal was to put a competition to EL AL, Israel’s national airline. To say the least, they succeeded. EL AL had reported, and still, even after American entered the market, that they have and average 92% load factor on their flights. This is by far their best load factor. American has also reported a very high load factor, even under 1 year from launch.

To compete with EL ALs 5x weekly service, American will begin flying daily. (EL AL, according to the Jewish religion, may not operate on Fridays and Saturdays due to Shabbat rest).

American will also change their plane on the route, switching from the 777-200 to the 787-8. EL AL operates the 787-9. Daily flights begin on October 29.

I’m excited to see the increase in capacity to Israel from Miami, and I wish American and EL AL best of luck, especially since EL AL just moved their US headquarters from New York City to Broward County/Fort Lauderdale.
