American Airlines Flight 587 tribute

Today 22 years ago the 2nd deadliest aviation accident on US soil ( not counting 9/11 ) occurred in Belle Harbor, Queens. New York City 🗽🍎 as American Airlines flight 587 from New York’s JFK to Santo Domingo encountered wake turbulence after taking off from a Japan Ailrines Boeing 747, the first officer was WAY TOO aggressive with the rudder which caused the vertical stabilizer to come off which led to a loss of control and a boom into the suburb. All 260 occupants onboard were killed along with 5 on the ground along with 2 dogs making this the US 2nd deadliest aviation accident with American Airlines flight 191 on May 25th, 1979 being the deadliest. As this occurred 2 months and a day after 9/11 terrorism was one of the suspected caused but it was later found out to be imporoper training on behalf of AA

Never forget 11/12/2001 🇺🇸

American Airlines Chrome Boeing 777-200ER ( substituting the Airbus A300 ) on Runway 31L waiting for the wake turbulence to settle down from the JAL queen.

A JAL 747 took off, and the wake turbulence affected the taking off A300.

turbulence from the aircrafts wake ( like another boat’s wake causes your boat to shake )

Wow that was scary. Imagine if that happened as Grandma and I were flying to Atlanta for the NIN, we would’ve been dead

Don’t worry many airlines ( especially AA ) have redone their training in these areas to prevent such accident from happening again.

Nice tribute! I live just a few blocks from 13 L/R, and my grandpa witnessed it crash. I was not alive then.
