Austin is seriously becoming more of a “focus city” for American (but they won’t call it that).

What do you guys think of American’s new Austin routes?

Austin Airport definitely had a massive day today. Three airlines announced new routes out of Austin which accumulatively added 11 new destinations.

By Southwest:

  • Sarasota
  • Columbus

By Alaska:

  • Palm Springs

By American:

  • Reno
  • Jacksonville
  • Oklahoma City
  • Tulsa
  • Liberia
  • San Juan
  • Punta Cana
  • Puerto Vallarta

AA is really increasing its presence at Austin. I’m surprised AUS is not considered a focus city for American with the way they’re expanding their routes.

Some of these will be interesting for sure. Frontier tried JAX-AUS and cut it so I’ll be interested to see how American does.

Good lord, American has really opened the flood gates. In the past month, I feel like AUS has been noticeably busier on FR24 compared to before the pandemic (some of that might be all of the storms). There’s a ton of flights (especially from American) going to non-hubs.

Awesome stuff!
