American Airlines and TikTok | Is this the end of the world?

Source

Welcome to the world of American Airlines!

AA has partnered with TikTok to create an In-Flight Entertainment system where passengers access WiFi and are able to browse videos from TikTok.

How to use TikTok

  1. Board a Viasat-equipped narrowbody aircraft.
  2. Log on to AA’s WiFi.
  3. Go to their website and find “TikTok.”

This partnership allows TikTok users a free 30 minute usage using AA’s WiFi. After that, AA gives them two options to either purchase WiFi to continue using the app freely, or end the session.

“Faster Wi-Fi allows us to deliver diverse inflight entertainment options and invest in innovative partnerships with platforms like TikTok. Customers play the lead role in helping us better understand what content they want during their inflight experience and TikTok is one of the platforms they love on the ground, and we’re thrilled to work with Viasat to give customers free access to TikTok while they’re in the air as well.”

- Clarissa Sebastian, AA’s Managing Director of Premium Customer Experience

I know some people hate TikTok with a burning passion, so I’d like to have everyone’s opinion.

This is indeed the end of the world

Ah yes, because we needed more mindless dancing in the aisles.

Imagine dancing so hard the whole plane gets ‘turbulence’

While this actually sounds like a cool partnership, I’m not a fan of the 30 minute limit. Other airlines like JetBlue and Delta (for T-Mobile users) has free wifi throughout the whole flight.

Look, you might not agree, but TikTok isn’t that bad once it knows what content you like. For me, it has worked out now that I don’t like stupid dancing videos, so it only really shows me videos of pilots/FAs talking about aviation and stuff (and of my other interests). It’s literally just short YouTube videos.

Either way, whether you like or not, millions do, so this will probably work well for them.

but yeah captain may need to turn on the seatbelt sign because of some ‘clear air turbulence’ 😂

As long as they don’t do anything ridiculously stupid it’s ok I guess?

What has happened to this generation. We start with normal entertainment, then add YouTube, and now TikTok? Like what is it next, Minecraft? Lol.

Besides that, I fly American almost every time I fly, so I will be interested to see what is new on my next flight.

I’ve said it once on this forum and I’ll say it again: if you think that TikTok only has stupid dancing videos, you’re sorely mistaken. There is a huge swath of very talented creators and also “one-hit wonders” who altogether create an amazing amount of quality, informative, and funny videos.

Interesting move by AA, I’ll say that though…

Not surprised that AA was the carrier to do this. Another reason not to fly them
