American Airlines A330-200

Tbh its probably the best livery on an A330. It just fits so well like there is no way to describe this aircraft without it being perfect

If they would rework it that would be great.

@MishaCamp said that they were gonna do It in July 2019 but they were clearly lied there.

No offense, but the NEO is more uncomfortable than the A330-200. The older the aircraft, the more comfortable. That’s just an undeniable fact.

Definitely complete trueness because new airline planes they want to disconnect comfort and prioritize more seats.

Actually it was a soft rework

They only did wing-flex and a couple of new liveries that was it.

Voted for this, honestly my favorite AA aircraft.

And they still retired the A330-300s, which are only around 16 years old. AA plans to phase out older 777-200ERs once the new 787-9s arrive in 2023, but that could get accelerated.

PHL-ATH is on the A330-300

I just think it’s such a waste (of money too) to retire these birds when they haven’t even come close to reaching their expected age limit. It basically defeats the purpose of owning the aircraft in the first place.

Voted! I’d like to see US Airways as well. I believe most if not all of the AA A330s are former US metal but I’m not positive.

I mean they are somewhat close, so dosen’t matter if it is 200 or 300

Except the A330s came from US Airways and they were planning to operate a widebody fleet of A330-200s, -300s, potentially A340-500s, and A350-900s. Since they merged with American, they’re able to use the 787-9 as a more efficient and nearly one-to-one replacement.

Yeah, all A330s came from US Airways

The 787 may be more efficient, but efficiency comes at a price. The quality of the product (in this case the 787) is reduced because cheaper products are used to make said final product. And with cheaper products makes the lifespan of the final product fall to only a few years instead of decades.

Just for the sake of argument, let’s use the DC-3 as an example. This aircraft (although over 80 years old) has truly withstood the test of time not because it’s an iconic aircraft, but because it’s practical, and is given PROPER maintenance every year. And it doesn’t need computers and code to fly it. After all computers and code are what brought caused the MAX to be grounded. And this aircraft was built with the best materials possible at the time and was built to last. The 787 on the other hand, will never stand the test of time like the DC-3, DC-9, 737-200, and the 707 have ever achieved.

My closing argument: older is by design, much better and lasts longer.

That photo is actually an A330-300. An example of an A330-200 for American is Aircraft Registration N286AY.
