Hi everyone,
I am starting a new ATC Tracking Thread due to technical issues on my previous one. I am an experienced ATC with over 1500 operations and years of general experience on IF. This Thread will ensure you know when I am doing scheduled ATC-ing in IF. As I am currently in the process of applying for IFATC, I am unable to control on the Expert Servers (hopefully that will change soon).
To ensure you are aware of when I am controlling, set the status of this post to “Watching” .

Hey Alpha! During the short time that I was at your session I noticed some mistakes that you made.
-First of all, you were clearing me in for the option when I was basically on left base for the runway. Keep in mind I was the only aircraft in the traffic pattern, so you should have been clearing me sooner.
-Second of all each time you were clearing me for the option you kept saying “make left traffic”. Keep in mind that when you gave me my takeoff clearance my pattern instruction was already provided, so there was no need to keep on saying “make left traffic.”
-third of all I noticed that when I touched down on the runway you gave me an exiting instruction, also remember if an aircraft is doing touch and goes you have too be 100% certain they are making a full stop before giving an exiting instruction.
- fourth of all when I requested a runway change, you told me to enter “left base”. I was essentially still on left downwind, so the proper command would have been, “Enter Left Downwind, RW…”

Thanks for the feedback @Jose_gil. I will take those points into consideration and use them to improve my controlling. With your third point, I wasn’t certain if you were going to continue pattern work or not as you had slowed the aircraft down to 40kts and had rolled over half the runway’s length, so I was expecting you exit. Directly after the exit command was given, I realised you were continuing to remain in the pattern, so I had to give the disregard command. Sorry about that, just a mis-understanding.

No worries, everyone makes mistakes. Remember just keep practicing/reviewing all the procedures, and you will be IFATC in no time :)

It isn’t the worst thing to send an exit instruction if they aren’t exiting the runway. If you send one and they start flying again, just simply send “disregard last message”. I did that during my practical and my recruiter said nothing of it.
