Almost got it, maybe: Northern Montana

In IF, I wanted to find the scenery I had been admiring on an irl Air Canada flight.

I did it in soIo so I could back track as necessary at 5x speed to find the presumed correct spot. I left the time setting at noon I think.

The idea was to fly west at around the same latitude guessed at from the irl in-flight map. Looks like I was heading pretty much due west towards KGPI, Glacier Park International (spectacular 3D airport to depart from in Montana)

Getting close (see how the shapes match up?):

Nice picture! Flying the best livery I see 😉

Thanks! And that is my favourite livery.

I don’t fly the CL35 often, but that is indeed the best livery on that plane.

Adding just a few extras, same topic/flight:

Appreciating the diversity of interesting textures.

Speaking of time compression, if I were to do a long haul, say, SAEZ-KMIA that is 10hs long, how many hours would this feature save me while in cruise? Thanks!

Some simple maths say you’d save 8 hours.

How do you calculate the time? I’ve never used time compression before.

Broski, the sim acceleration is 5x. So multiply/divide just about every parameter by 5 lol

Thanks guys, much appreciated.

Yeah, 5x would be 1/5 the time (so 20%, or 10 hours reduced to 2 hours), as 2x would be 1/2 the time.

But I haven’t found 5x to be stable enough for me to leave the flight unsupervised. I tend to get oscillations that usually become strong enough to shut off the AP (either the maximum allowable bank or pitch easily gets exceeded).

So, I use 5x in short bursts and with me carefully watching to shut it off if the shaking gets too violent.

I don’t know if others have experienced this instability to the same extent as me. My device is aging and I’m about to replace it. Usually, the oscillations get triggered or get worse when I use a view where my fps drop off.

I’m hoping a faster device will help solve the problem(?),

That seems like the typical behaviour of an aircraft flying too high for a certain weight, therefore being on the verge of stalling. Are you sure you’re climbing properly?

I personally have used 5x very rarely, and even then, for short amounts of time (climbing and moving quickly to take a nice screenshot) so I’ll have to do some testing. Doing a whole flight with it is nonsensical for me because I could be using that time for a multiplayer flight to keep my Grade (5).

But it happens at light weight and low altitude, and seems affected by lower fps situations.

Yeah, that’s the other problem:)
