I can’t believe it’s been a whole month since @Transport_Hub and I were at JFK and I just got around to editing, but I guess that’s what school does to you. The lighting conditions that day were some of the strangest I’ve ever seen before. All of these photos were shot within 2-3 hours of each other but they exhibit a pretty wide range of conditions.
Equipment:
Nikon D7500
Tamron 100-400mm f/4.5-6.3 VC USD
Thank the weather gods for swapping the runways as this ANA pulled up to 4L and allowing me to get this gem of a shot departing 22R.
Weather here can’t decide between sunny and cloudy.
A huge thunderstorm rolled in behind JFK but the sun somehow stayed out. The lighting in this shot isn’t edited really at all, but it still almost looks fake.
The thunderstorm’s chilling out a bit but it’s still delivering amazing contrast.
A Queen to round out the thunderstorm shots.
And just like that the sky’s blue again.
These last three have kind of “out there” edits due to shortcoming with their raw files, but for what they are I really like them.
Major heat haze but the composition makes up for it I think.
A plane completely in shadow but we made it work.
Poor light leads to interesting edits.
