I’m visiting family here in my hometown Lafayette, Indiana. This small town is also home to a factory (Alcoa) which manufactures and develops high strength, light weight Aluminum-Lithium alloy parts for Boeing and has so for many decades. This plant also supplies Airbus, and defense and space programs from around the world. The murmur, as explained by a close friend and employee, is that there is talk of layoffs due to contracts made with Boeing that may be terminated within the near future. This all following recent announcements that Boeing employee buyouts were slated for the engineering sector of the California, S. Carolina, and Washington branches. I personally thought this was odd considering a major deal (2.5 Bil) between the two manufacturers had just been settled not but a couple of years ago. Any thoughts on a potential toppling of this giant?
