Alaska B737 at 36,000 ft

Here’s a cool photo I got this evening. This is an Alaska Airlines B738 flying from Seattle to San Diego. I was looking around, saw it, and thought, “How far can my camera zoom in?.” I’m actually blown away with the quality of it…

Awesome shot. What camera and lense?

Its a Canon SX40 HS. The lense isn’t swappable on it. In this photo, its mostly using digital zoom

No kidding! that plane is about 7 miles away!

another example that it isn’t the camera that makes a picture but the photographer.

It’s the awesome old livery too. 😅

I was debating whether it was or not for a little while, then I looked at it a bit closer and I could easily tell it was the old one.

I love the old livery. Now don’t get me wrong, their new livery is probably one of very few modern liveries I don’t hate with a burning passion (*cough…United 😜) but I grew up seeing that livery for over 15 years so I holds a soft place in me.

For me, I love both of their liveries. And I like how they are keeping some with the old liveries, and some with the new

Wow that’s really cool! What camera do you use?

This one. A picture of it is in a post above somewhere. Not the most high quality camera, but my other one doesn’t zoom is as far, that’s why I used it…

Nice shot mate the is a very good pic with that plane moving so fast

Thanks! It took a lot of coordination, but it all worked out in the end. Thinking of getting some more tonight…
