I think this gives Alaska Airlines the excuse(for lack of a better word) to order up and snag an a321Neo sometime in the future. They know that 321 provides better economics over the comparable 737-900 which they currently use. The a320 in my opinion is a more passenger friendly aircraft and therefore I think this is a great decision by Alaska Air. I predict that they will lease out some of the older A320’s to other airlines like Frontier or Allegiant who operate the type and would like a cheaper option than buying new aircraft.

It will also make it easier for the former Virgin pilots and crews that will need a new job

Agreed. It will be good for virgin pilots. Its likely that virgin’s former routes will be operated by the airbuses

It’s Alaska, by the way

Well, I am sorry 🙄🙄🙄🙄

I think this is a great decision, increases competition in the airline industry in my opinion.

Sorry, not to be rude

They’d keep their jobs anyways. If AS were to switch to the 737 when the 320 leases expire, all they need to do is be retrained.

On another note, it seems they’ve gotten rid of the idea for new “flat-bed” seating on the transcon routes… with the downgrade in seat comfort from as the new seats roll out, it seems that those routes are getting less and less competitive every day.

I’m a Boeing fan but I’m excited to see Airbus in Alaska airlines fleet

Alaska/Airbus
This don’t seem right for a all Boeing airline.

It doesn’t seem wrong either 😉

They won’t, they are going to stop paying for the brand (there is a better word but I forget it atm) in 2018 and repaint Virgin’s A320s

Its like Jetblue buying out Southwest and it’s 737’s.
