Since the 1980s, Alaska Airlines has had a sizeable presence in Southern California, particularly in the Los Angeles area, currently operating scheduled services to Burbank, Los Angeles, Ontario, and Orange County. Burbank, the smallest of these airports, sees service from Seattle-Tacoma, Portland, Boise, San Francisco, and Santa Rosa. These latter three are served by Alaska’s subsidiary, wholly-owned since 1986, Horizon Air, operated with the airline’s Embraer 175 regional jets.

Ready for a single-engine taxi
Holding short while we start the right engine and wait for the runway to be cleared
Turbulent takeoff and climbout from Gowen Field
Rough air over the Sierra Nevada means that the seatbelt sign will be staying on for the duration of the flight
Descending over the San Joaquin Valley of California
The flight didn’t get any smoother, resulting in a landing too bumpy to get a usable picture of. Here’s us at the gate to make up for it.
