Alaska Airlines has announced daily service to Miami International (MIA), starting on June 16, 2022.

“We’ve landed on a perfect location for our 100th nonstop from our home airport in Seattle. Miami is a cultural hub for travelers around the world with its incredible nightlife, art, music, architecture and food," said Brett Catlin, vice president of network and alliances at Alaska Airlines. “With our new daily nonstop launching in June, we’ll be connecting two cruise capitals just in time for summer while teeing up easy fall getaways to South Florida, the Caribbean and beyond.”

The flights will run as scheduled (likely on a 737)

  • AS305 depart SEA 7:15 AM arrive MIA 4:15 PM
  • AS728 depart MIA 5:40 PM arrive SEA 9:10 PM

The airline will continue to serve Fort Lauderdale alongside Miami. This will make this their first return to MIA in 10 years, after serving FLL only. Both airports will now be served.

“This summer, Alaska will serve the two major airports in South Florida with the addition of Miami. Since 2012, we’ve provided nonstop service between Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport and Seattle, and next summer we’ll offer twice daily nonstops. We also provide wintertime seasonal service from Fort Lauderdale to Los Angeles; Portland, Oregon; San Diego; and San Francisco.“

Alaska making money here with these new vacation destinations, especially since they started this route in the wintertime.

I think this was a move Alaska was going to have to take here. The flights seem to be timed well for connections to destinations not able to be served from Seattle. Also, the SEA-MIA flight will be better in the day than AAs redeye that departs close to 1am from Seattle.

Lets gooo! But not the biggest fan that we will have more snowbirds down here.

Sounds so surprising that Alaska Airlines is coming to Miami. Imagine flying from Juneau Alaska or Anchorage Alaska to Miami like flying from the cold to the warm. Ok! That’s Miami spirit right there for Alaska Airlines impression. Haha. You Go Alaska Airlines! To Miami you go
