Hello, I’m Ajax, and welcome to my Radar Training Thread!. I’m an IFATC Specialist. I’m currently in the IFATC Radar Training process and I created this thread as a media for my radar controlling skill.

NOTAM

  • Airport, runways, and other information will be announced each time I open.
  • Please only use the runway(s) I announce.
  • Please fly at a reasonable speed at all times.
    Downwind [ 200 - 210 IAS ]
    Base [ 180 IAS ]
  • Please follow every instruction even if you are going to have a Terrain/Sep bust as,this will help me where I need to improve.

Subject to be tested:

  • Visual Approach
  • ILS Approach
  • Radar Vector
    - No GPS Pls

Feedback guidance:
Please report any following

  • Terrain bust: Must remain above 1,000ft AGL when you aren’t cleared for approach, climbing from an airport, and/or actively being controlled on my frequency.
  • Separation bust: Must remain minimal 3nm lateral, and 1,000ft vertical distance between other aircraft.
  • Issue intercepting: Should intercept before the ILS cone begins, at a heading of 30⁰ off or no less than 10⁰
  • Inefficiency: If you believe you could’ve got to the runway significantly quicker safely.

Feedback OH-AAT

ILS

  • initial vector came very late
  • initial vector must have an altitude and a heading
  • downwind should’ve been narrower
  • 40 degree intercept

VIS

  • crosswind vector was unnecessary, should give a slanted downwind vector instead. Led to a wide DW.
  • 3k is too low for downwind
  • I was already climbing through 3k when I got the instruction
  • DNE180 was unnecessary, no one was around me and I was at an acceptable speed
  • late base turn

SX-LAY

  • Don’t waste time giving useless speed restrictions.
    • That 180 on my first approach was not needed. Just give an intercept and clearance instead.
    • Unnecessary 160 knots after my MA. Use that time to turn me downwind.
  • Bit over-complicating this. There is nothing wrong with taking me full cone and giving more standard vectors for an ILS.
  • Intercept headings should be 30 degrees, meaning I should have gotten 060 instead of the 40 and 10 degree intercepts I got.
