AIRSHOW SPOTTING COMPETITION [Round 3 Submission Window]

Airshow Spotting Competition

Good Day Everyone!

With all of these photo competitions circulating, I have seen many impressive pictures taken by the members of the IFC. So I would like to host one of my own.

Airshows just hit different… with large gatherings of impressive aircraft, and breathtaking performances. Likewise, many beautiful masterpieces arise from the talented photographers among us.

Long story short, this is a competition for airshow pictures only!

While I enjoy spotting airliners, I just can’t get past the feeling of a chest rumbling flyby from an F-16 or the roar of a Merlin as a P-51 cuts knife edge across the show line.

During this competition, there will be no categories. Randomized matchups will be created when the round submissions begin. You will have one week to submit your photos. A round will last no more than 7 days, with a 4 days to submit, and 3 days to vote.

The rules are as follows:

  • No AI generated images. @AndrewWu

  • No photos from a non-airshow event. Flybys are included as an “airshow.”

  • Original pictures only, no using other people’s work.

  • Do not watermark your photos in order to remain anonymous.

  • There are no category/aircraft limitations on any round.

  • Photos will be due the night before voting commences at 9pm EST. You may change your photo until then.

  • If your opponent does not submit a photo, you will win the round automatically.

  • Contestants are encouraged to vote, as well as the rest of the IFC.

  • As long as your photo has a plane in it and is appropriate, it will be entered so choose wisely.

Round 1 dates and timing will be announced once slots are filled.

Please vote below if you would like to participate. 32 slots are open, once 32 are filled, we will begin. If 32 cannot be filled, I will drop it down to 24. Note, I will be participating.

  • Yes!
  • Not today, thanks though.

I’ll join! I have some older photos from Oshkosh of last year, but I’ll get some fresh shots at the Duluth Airshow in a few weeks.

I would have loved to join but I only have 2-3 airshow pics so I’m already out

I knew you would be

@Humanguy will be too if I know him well enough

Hey, if you’d like to attempt it, by all means go for it. Your 3 photos could last you through to the semi finals!

No that’s alright

I would be, but I don’t have any airshow pics

Oh darn :frowning:

But hey, maybe I’ll get a shot of the Condor Squadron and I’ll submit, even if just for 1 round.

Sweet! Well you probably have close to a week until we have enough contestants

Do helicopter flybys count? Like a UH-60 going by me?

Unfortunately I would have to say no, unless it was for a special event. Flyby is more referring to a sporting event, holiday, or parade that might feature a flyover.
