With 24.3 introducing synchronizing ground service equipment (GSE), players can now see another player with GSE around their aircraft. With that said, I can’t help but notice that something is missing from the GSE. They don’t match their represented airline…
Many airlines around the world have their own contracted GSE that wear their branding. This can be seen at airports these airlines commonly serve, like Southwest in Baltimore or Japan Airlines in Tokyo.
Airline Themed GSE would offer new looks across the GSE in Infinite Flight from various airlines around the world. Not only would it offer a new look to GSE, but it would also improve the realism of the sim, attracting more players to join as well as satisfying current players.
So, if you want GSE in Infinite Flight to take on new colors, please consider voting for this feature!
He may have other priorities, and made the request for other people to vote. For example, I convinced the staff to allow the A350-1000 request. Haven’t voted for it and have no plans to do so. Why? Not a huge priority for me - I’d much rather see the A321neo or something more exotic, like the L-188. 🤷♂️
Anyway, I’m glad it was approved. I’m surprised that something like this wasn’t created sooner. Having GSE have their own liveries for the airline they work for would be really cool to see in Infinite Flight
I’m not saying this wouldn’t come, but things like liveries and 3D airports are much more important (to me atleast) than this, memory on mobile devices is very limited so I think that other things like improved pavement textures should come before this. still nice idea though.
To be honest, if us community members were the ones to create the textures for these GSE, it would be really nice to do it ourselves and would save time from IF side.
While i do love the idea, id say its likely best to avoid playing with fire by overcomplicating the already shaky legs GSE stands on. Not to mention memory issues since as someone pointed out above, we would likely need to have at least like 50-100 differing “liveries” for GSE of the biggest airlines
What i do consider possible though, is a few (4-6) “basic” GSE liveries for the most common airport ground service providers, like Dnata, Aviogei, Menzies, Swissport, etc… Id say this is very doable and would greatly contribute to immersion without impacting performance
