Airline Terminals

I don’t know if this have been discussed, but I thought it would be a great idea for the airports (when Global comes out) to have terminals for specific airliners. For Example, at KATL Atlanta airport. I would think it would be appropriate for specific terminal/concourses to have specific airlines. One terminals would be mostly Southwest, and another would could be mostly United and so on and so forth. Thanks!

P.S. Please let me know what category would be most appropriate for this topic. I think Live category.

How would pilots know where to go. Would there be an additional map showing appropriate terminals?

This would require 3D buildings which can take up a lot of space an a mobile device. Laura has previously discussed the idea of 3D buildings and said that they do not see it in the near future but it is a possibility.

I think most users already take into account where they spawn/park. I’m not sure this feature would be that useful as users only need to do a quick google search to find out where to park (this is what I do).

@lgsfly don’t see how it requires 3D terminals.

Best solution to this, look up where airlines park in real life and spawn/park there. That’s what I always do when spawning in/taxiing to parking.
Done.

In times of shared flight numbers, alliances like Star Alliance (with what- 20 members…?), OneWorld, etc that would mean anywhere :)

I suggest you vote for the feature you’d like to see, otherwise, it shows that you don’t really want it into the sim.

Interesting idea. This would require a dedicated team to update a list of which aircraft can park at which terminal. As in real life the airport editors are editing airports for ‘any’ livery. We do not have the bandwidth to make changes to an airport terminal listing on a daily basis. As of now I have already compiled a listing of ALL airports flown by each airline. To be terminal specific would be very challenging! I update my own personal database each time an airport is cataloged.

ATC ground could assign you a gate and it shows up on your map, if no ground then you search a gate for your airline and like how there is an option where it shows the runways on your screen it shows the runway you need to go to.

Some airports in the sim already have a gate connected to an airline. I think the New York airports are the ones that have G5-United or A5-UPS.

Yes please, but I think I would want this as soon as Steve jobs make an iPad with ALOT more storage.
So then we can have 3-D buildings

We’re talking RAM (memory), here. Device performance has nothing to do with storage space, in most circumstances. :)

No, he meant storage. 3D buildings will require more storage space to be tooken up on your device but also RAM like you said.

Patience is a virtue. Lets get Global released first and then worry about future years. Opening up Pandora’s Box should give most players plenty of ‘opportunity’ to go explore the huge planet which we all share. Who cares about buildings when we have the Grand Canyon, Mount Everest, the Swiss Alps, the Sahara Desert and many many other wonderful naturally created landmarks. Venture forth into the vast landforms. Discover Ayres Rock (yes I have seen it in IF!). Fly over the North Pole and South Pole. See how far you can go on one tank of fuel.

We now have 1468 of the 13893 airport earmarked as edited ready for global. When would we ever find time to do the 3D buildings as well?

Keep the faith - Nirvana is waiting. I have already been trecking it in my World Voyage.

I think taxi way signs or a guided taxi feature (similar to what FSX had) would help immensely for taxiing around airports.

Currently, Taxiing from a given parking spot to a runway at a large international airport in IF is very difficult to do accurately as there are no signs, marking, or directions.
