Thai Airways to return to US!
According to OMAT and Skift Thai Airways may be returning to the US (maybe as early as next year!). Thai Airways retreated from the US in 2015 due to costs along with a failed safety audit from the FAA prohibiting all Thai carriers to head to the US. THA has also been affected by the pandemic, declaring for bankruptcy protection. Since then, they recovered and it is possible they are returning to the US soon. I read in an earlier article (that I lost) that they plan on flying to SEA and SFO if they return as JFK and LAX are too expensive for the slowly rebuilding airline. I’d love them to be back!.
At this time, they haven’t started any thing yet, but I just want to share the new planned SFO and SEA routes.
I am not sure if they will have a layover in ICN or NRT (like before) if they go forward.

The A350-900 and 787-9 should have the legs to do BKK-SEA or BKK-SFO non-stop. United’s been using the bog standard 787-9 between San Francisco and Singapore for almost a decade now, so I don’t see why Thai couldn’t do likewise from Bankok.

It’s possi le that they will start with those aircraft until demand is estsblished before switching to 777s and whatnot

Breeze starts service to HVN tomorrow, and will also start HVN-JAX in February. This back and forth between the 2 airlines is fun to look at.
