Brussels Airlines renews fleet with 3 quieter and more economical aircraft
National carrier Brussels Airlines will put 3 additional Airbus A320neo aircraft into service by the summer of 2026. These modern aircraft will replace 2 older ones. According to Brussels Airlines, they are up to half as quiet as their predecessors and emit up to 20 percent less CO2.

With the arrival of the new aircraft, 2 older A319 aircraft, also from the manufacturer Airbus, will be taken out of service. These older aircraft are smaller, with a maximum capacity of 156 passengers. The new A320neo aircraft can carry up to 194 passengers.
The replacement should yield environmental and climate benefits, with CO2 reductions that according to Brussels Airlines can amount to up to 30 percent per passenger. But the total capacity will also be increased.
Brussels Airlines CEO Dorothea von Boxberg calls it “a win-win-win” that will make the airline more energy efficient, create new jobs, improve Belgium’s connectivity and also make the flying experience more comfortable for crew and passengers.
Brussels Airlines now operates 5 A320neo aircraft, out of a total fleet of 46 aircraft. The first arrived in Brussels on 1 November .
Rejuvenation
Brussels Airlines, part of Lufthansa, is facing a tough task to rejuvenate its fleet. An average Brussels Airlines aircraft is 16.7 years old. That is half the age of the fleet of the other Belgian airline TUIfly Belgium.
More aircraft coming for Brussels Airlines, smart but logical move, in other words: we should have expected to see this coming soon, as their fleet is ageing fast like described in the article. Excited times for Brussels Arilines!
