AFKLM Events & ATC Report Card - October 2021!

Events are an integral part at AFKLM. We love events and we certainly do know how to carry them out. Since the brief implementation of IFATC Region Assignments, we had taken this as an opportunity to staff all our events with ATC. Now with the introduction of the Hybrid System, regions are a thing of the past! We have already adapted to this newer system. We conduct three weekly events at the minimum and in the month of October, we had IFATC present at almost every event that took place.

AFKLM ATC Operations is a team of 45+ and ever growing IFATC Controllers led by @Edoardo_C. The team staffs any and every possible events in AFKLM whilst tending to questions from non-IFATC members in the VA. When possible, some of the members utilise the discord VC’s to stream their controlling live within the VA. This gives a chance to other members to learn from watching other controllers controlling live.

Below are the ATC stats of October:

Total Events taken place: 13
Distinct frequencies: 63
Distinct Controllers: 11

Thank you to all the controllers that made this possible!

Air France A220 Confirmed!

The Air France A220 will be a great addition to AFKLM’s Classic and Career Modes. The aircraft will be used on the carrier’s Short and Medium-Haul network. The A220 is set to gradually replace Air France’s A318s and A319s as well as several A320s. Operations have been commenced on 31st October with flights to Berlin, Barcelona, Madrid, Milan-Linate and Venice from the Air France hub at Paris-Charles de Gaulle. During the 2021-2022 winter season, the aircraft will gradually extend it’s network to Bologna, Rome, Lisbon and Copenhagen.

It is with great pleasure that we announce the winners of the 2021 Pilot and Staff Awards held at AFKLM.

It goes without saying that all our members and staff are of equal importance and greatly valued. However, some members go above and beyond their way to make others feel comfortable. We recognise them and their efforts to make AFKLM a better place for all.

Without further ado, we present to you the winners of 2021 Awards.

Pilot of the Year: @Menno_Roemer [AFKLM194]
Since the time Menno has joined us, he has been flying continuously. You will see Menno flying our Classic Routes as well as our Vintage Routes. Menno is a member of our Career Mode as well. He is a professional when it comes to flying. Other than that he is an active member in the community, always willing to help out, creating group flights and easy to engage with. Congratulations Menno!

Staff Member of the Year: @sanketpandia [AFKLM012]
The Staff Team works round the clock to make the best possible environment for the pilots. We are grateful to each and every individual in the staff for what they get to the table. That being said, this year Sanket has worked exceptionally hard first as the Event Manager and now as our first ever IT Manager.
He has set an example for the rest of the staff and is an inspiration to many. Under his leadership, Events have grown exponentially. Whilst working on events, he also helped with the automations in Airtable and making the AFKLM Bot. We thank Sanket and the rest of the team for their hard-work in the day-to-day operations.

Rookie of the Year: @KJKLM281 [AFKLM281]
Ibiza and San Francisco, these are the only two destinations Kevin flies too. Since he joined, he really moved up the ranks quickly and has even just acquired a million XP. Additionally Kevin is one of the two Event Leaders organising our Thursday Events. We definitively will see a lot more from Kevin in the future here at AFKLM!

Most Helpful Pilot of the Year: @Pablo_CG [AFKLM250]
Whenever someone raises a question, Pablo is there to the rescue. We are all very thankful of pilots like him who are always willing to help out others, and Pablo is the best example. Thanks for your support Pablo!

Career Mode Pilot of the Year: @DhruvChopra [AFKLM936]
Who else than our very own Dhruv deserves this award? He really enjoys flying Career Mode, and always let’s us know what his next flight will be. He is on top of the career mode leader board with over 1.700 hours of flying, what a great achievement! Dhruv has also been a one time winner of the 2019 Pilot of the Year. Thank you Dhruv for being so active and showing us what fun Career Mode can be!

IFATC of the Year: @Nikita_D [AFKLM252]
AFKLM ATC Operations is a team of 45+ and ever growing IFATC Controllers led by @ Edoardo_C. We would like to present this award to Nikita who is an outstanding controller for AFKLM. Whenever possible he will help out by staffing events or helping out pilots with questions related to ATC. Thank you for all you do Nikita, a very well deserved award.
