in addition to the warnings we have, I’ve seen more and more topics of pilots getting upset because ATC sometimes don’t always see pilots either taxing without permission or through grass/terminals. So I’ve thought of a possible implementation which could help this issue.
How it works…
Basically, as soon as any pilot has loaded into an Airport, an automatic speed restriction is engaged for 5knotsGS. This is disabled the second the pilot communicates with ATC. So basically, if the pilot starts taxing without permission, ATC will get a warning around that Pilots Name.
Another suggestion would be to implement the same system for a Hold Position command. If the pilot is given this command, they won’t be able to exceed 5knots which should be slow enough for any possible incursions to be resolved. Again, it is then disengaged when ATC issues the next command.
Here’s an example of how it might look… Sorry if the explanation is all over the place
So in this situation, Singapore 840 has been instructed to Hold Position. Now by this point I have switched back to tower to clear a plane to land.
However, because the pilot hasn’t stopped, I recieve a warning on the Ground Frequency. A warning appears around the Aircraft and next to the command page shortcut.
I like it a lot…maybe something like this could also be implemented to stop aircraft changing frequencies between ground and tower when they haven’t had permission to?
Last we need is more rules, it just takes common sense and if the community (fellow pilots on server and region) will report these users then we eliminate the need for more headaches.
In a perfect world, yes that would work. But until then, more rules will actually make for a better environment. Because this is a game to a lot of people and they don’t want to take it seriously.
To elaborate on this idea, it would be great to have a similar thing for the line up and wait command, when the ATC is warned when the aircraft has been idle on the runway for too long (i.e. this would be to help an ATC who has forgotten to clear an aircraft for takeoff - sometimes this happens when the airport is really busy)
