Feedback I-JNCO

ILS Approach.

  • Downwind for my approach was a bit tight, especially for an ILS (4NM). Try to aim for a 5/7 NM for an ILS approach. However, that’s not a major issue.
  • If you decide to have aircraft on a tight ILS d/w, it will be a bit hard for them to also turn on a 90° base and intercept, since it would lead to an overshot, if not cleared in time. In fact, this is what happened with me. You could either have me on a wider d/w, then put me on base and clear me from there, or clear me directly from d/w to avoid me overshooting the cone (despite yes, I caught LOC after promptly activating APPR).

Missed Approach

  • After my MA (announced just to see your skills with it), I received a normal vector instead of one with the “Execute Missed Approach…” in it.
  • You changed my approach to VIS. It was a bit unnecessary since in the end, I flew the whole cone so it didn’t really change much from an ILS.
  • The issue above, though, was probably a misclick. In fact, you initially cleared me as an ILS and, after unabling it, you realized and issued me a RAIS. After I reported the airport in sight, I didn’t receive a clearance but just a TYGD and a handoff.

Overall, it wasn’t a bad first session. Keep up the great work, and good luck with the training! Thanks for having me :)

ILS :

  • [11:34:00] unnecessary heading 220° at Downwind. heading 230° at the beginning was correct
  • [11:36:19] Heading base is better 320°, not 310°
  • [11:39:32] handoff a bit early, at that time I was not yet establisged on the ILS

VIS :

  • [11:43:53:] & [11:44:02] : I req RV but you gave me EV for the Visual. your response at [11:43:67] should be correct. (EV To Auckland)
  • [11:47:28] Heading base is better 320°, not 310°
  • [11:48:13] I haven’t RAISed yet but have been given clearance. You should have waited for me to RAIS first, then given clearance.

After M/A

  • [11:56:44] Again, I haven’t RAIS but you have given clearance, that’s wrong.
