Ah I remember flying in one of those beauties when I first flew to Europe in 2012. That was nice. Such a good plane.

Given that the A330-300 is based on the same airframe as the A340-300, can’t the development team essentially develop the A340-300 using the A330 framework just like what they did with the A330-200? I mean that would make for a very quick development pipeline while giving access to a unique aircraft

yea it’d certainly be less work for em, the major design remodelling would essentially include no more than an airframe extension, a landing gear redesign, new engines for the a340s respectively(which if the cfm 56 would get a redesign then would help plenty for the a320s nd b737s as well) nd well, newer wings if talking abt the -500s nd -600s

I think we’ll get an A340 sooner if the development team uses the A330-300 airframe to make an A340-300. The A340-500/-600 would technically require a complete rework.

yea thats true, if anything id prefer they make it that way jus so the build quality will be higher. my point earlier was if they wanted to push out more versions of the a340 at a faster rate, it would be easier to encroach upon the pre-made fuselages already in-game, including the -500/-600, which def would require more work into the necessary changes, but compromising on the detailed stuff, like we had recently w the a359 nd a35k, it would be possible to push out all variants of the a340, w higher detail than we’ve ever had, but still within a good margin for future improvements

Little more conplicated then that.

True, but they churned out the A35K, a stretched variant with different performance figures in a matter of months. With the shortened development (as proven by the addition of the A332 and A338) I definitely see the A343 as a feasible addition to the game, and also a distinctively different aircraft from the A333, being more underpowered and carrying more over longer distances.

Rightly said. After the 787 is released, IF should work on reworking the 747 and release a soft rework of the A340-300, similar to the A330 variants.
