The A321neo is already in the works.
The XLR has minor changes to the exterior, and just increased range and load.
In my point of view, it could be possible.
They wouldn’t need to make it from scratch.
I guess it’d need rebalancing due to the higher takeoff weight, and new engines. Don’t know, but I’d say it needs more than just “minor changes.”

The 1st one arrived last week and The 2nd arrived in Dublin on Wednesday (18/Dec)
