Start of Emirati rule of AirBerlin?

I think it’s sad that Air Berlin has to cut down on its fleet, and employees so drastically. Not only from an aviation fans perspective, but also from the perspective of someone who is hoping to one day land a job with this airline. The sad truth, is that Air Berlin just can’t compete with the absolutely MASSIVE airline empire that is Lufthansa. Alone Lufthansa’s low cost carriers are what is making it so hard for Air Berlin, not to mention the many other subsidiaries that Lufthansa has all over Europe in both passenger transportation, and cargo transportation. I really do hope that Air Berlin will be able to continue operations for many more years to come. I sincerely apologize about this mammoth essay ;)

Well Eurowings is now Europes 3rd largest LCC… the fact is Air Berlin is too expensive for the service it provides.

1,200 employees are a lot of people to get rid of. I really feel for the pilots who are being dismissed. I really do hope Air Berlin gets back on stable footing soon.

I wonder how this entire scenario will play out for the Air Berlin flight training program. I hope they keep it going. I doubt it though.
